Pupil Transportation: Home-to-School and Special Education


Funding Description

Home-to-school (HS) and severely disabled/orthopedically impaired (SD/OI) transportation funding is available to eligible local educational agencies (LEAs) to reimburse them for the approved cost of transporting pupils to and from school.

Eligibility

Eligible Applicants Local educational agencies
Required Eligibility Criteria Generally, LEAs that received funding in the prior fiscal year are eligible for funds.
Other Eligibility Considerations LEAs must report the HS and SD/OI transportation costs via the annual report of pupil transportation form (Form TRAN) in the SACS2011ALL Unaudited Actual Software: http://www.cde.ca.gov/fg/sf/fr/.

Recipient Amount For FY 2011-12, LEAs will receive an amount based on their prior year entitlement less approx 0.02%.

Allocation Formula The entitlement for each eligible LEA will be equal to the lesser of (1) the prior year HS or SD/OI entitlement or (2) the prior year's approved HS or SD/OI transportation cost, respectively. From this amount, subtract 0.02 percent.
