K–2 Educators Needed for Alternate ELPAC Development!
Urgent! The California Department of Education (CDE) is seeking the help of California educators who teach kindergarten through grade two (K–2) English learner students with the most significant cognitive disabilities. These educators are needed for the continued development of the Alternate ELPAC during the following activities, which will take place remotely:
- Standard Setting Workshop, February 22–25
- Data Review Meeting, March 17–18
Local educational agencies (LEAs) can be reimbursed for substitute teacher expenses.

A Teacher’s Best Kept Secret: Interim Assessments and Tools for Teachers
The CDE invites you to attend “A Teacher's Best Kept Secret: Interim Assessments and Tools for Teachers,” which is the final webinar of the 2021–22 Tools for Teachers Shared Practices Webinar Series. This webinar, for all LEA staff, will be held on March 1 from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m.
California classroom educators will discuss the specific ways they use Smarter Balanced Interim Assessments and Tools for Teachers resources to support instruction. Included in the discussions will be flexible ways for using these resources, such as:
- Using interim assessments as standardized pretests and post-tests combined with Tools for Teachers lesson plans
- Working with groups of students in a nonstandardized way, using performance task items
Learn how these powerful tools can increase the effectiveness of teaching and learning in the classroom. These tools can become your secret to saving time and making instructional decisions based on student needs!
