Registration Now Open for the 2023–24 Introduction to CERS Training

Registration is now open for the 2023–24 Introduction to the California Educator Reporting System (CERS) online training. This training supports the implementation of CERS and is intended to help local educational agency (LEA) staff get familiar with the features and functions of CERS. Attendees will have opportunities to explore using various features of CERS. Beginning July 2023 and continuing through October 2023, two types of training will be offered for specific audiences.

Introduction to CERS for Test Coordinators and Administrators

This three-hour online training is designed for staff who have an LEA or site coordinator role in the Test Operations Management System and are responsible for managing access to CERS for other LEA staff members. The session will include opportunities for attendees to practice using various features of CERS and offer an optional lab session about how to assign teachers to their student results (rostering). Topics covered include:

  • An overview of CERS features, including administrator tools;
  • How to access individual and group summative assessment results;
  • Key features available for viewing assessment results;
  • Resources available to help provide support for staff who want to know more about CERS; and
  • Procedures for giving LEA staff the access they need to view student results.

This training session will be offered on the following dates:

  • July 18, 2023, 1 to 4 p.m.
  • July 25, 2023, 8:30 to 11:30 a.m.
  • October 24, 2023, 8:30 to 11:30 a.m.
  • October 26, 2023, 1 to 4 p.m.

Introduction to CERS for Teachers

This two-hour online training is designed for LEA staff who have or will have access to CERS assessment results (i.e., teachers who have students rostered in the system and other LEA staff who are interested in using CERS). The session will include opportunities for attendees to practice using various features of CERS. Topics covered include:

  • An overview of CERS features;
  • How to access individual and group summative assessment results;
  • Key features available for viewing assessment results;
  • Making customized student groups within CERS; and
  • Resources available to support classroom instruction.

This training session will be offered on the following dates:

  • July 20, 2023, 9 to 11 a.m.
  • August 2, 2023, 1 to 3 p.m.
  • October 24, 2023, 3:30 to 5:30 p.m.

Registration Open for 2023 High School Equivalency and Proficiency Summer Convenings!

Registration is open for the 2023 High School Equivalency and Proficiency Summer Convenings that will be happening across California from August 7–18, 2023! The California Department of Education (CDE) invites chief examiners, test site administrators, school counselors, and others with a connection to high school equivalency (HSE) and Proficiency exams to attend a session. Reporting Physical Fitness Test Results

With the recent changes to the physical performance test regulations, the following changes have been made to the reporting requirements:

  • Students should be provided with their raw scores either orally or in writing.
  • LEAs are required to report participation results by fitness area and grade in their School Accountability Report Card.
  • LEAs are no longer required to keep student’s physical performance test scores in their cumulative record.
