On September 22, 2023, Governor Gavin Newsom signed SB 544 (Chapter 196, Statutes of 2023) which provides continued flexibility for certain state bodies covered by the Bagley-Keene Open Meeting Act (Act) to hold public meetings covered by the Act via web and/or audio teleconferencing. As such, the State Board of Education (SBE) Screening Committee meeting will be held via the format of video conferencing.

The purpose of this meeting is to (1) conduct a paper screen of candidate applications and select candidates to interview for possible appointment to the California Practitioners Advisory Group (CPAG); and (2) recommend the appointment of a Chair and Vice-Chair to the CPAG. The Screening Committee will decide which candidates it will recommend to the full SBE for action by the State Board at its November 5-6, 2025, meeting.

   • Applicant review and selection of candidates to interview for the CPAG.
4. Consideration of candidates for recommending appointment of Chair of the CPAG, as follows:
• Selection of a candidate to recommend to the State Board of Education for appointment as Chair of CPAG
5. Consideration of candidates for recommending appointment of Vice-Chair of the CPAG, as follows:
• Selection of a candidate to recommend to the State Board of Education for appointment as Vice-Chair of CPAG
6. Adjournment
