Subject: CALPADS Update FLASH #155
Important Reminder to update Student English Language Acquisition Status in CALPADS Prior to Summative Testing for the English Language Proficiency Assessments for California
Any students that were tested with the Initial English Language Proficient Assessments (ELPAC) in the current academic year, or any students who still need to be tested with the Initial ELPAC, must also take the Summative ELPAC before May 31. Therefore, it critical that you have submitted or will submit their English Language Acquisition Status (ELAS) of English Learner (EL) or Initial Fluent English Proficient (IFEP), as determined by the ELPAC local scoring tool, to CALPADS in order for students to take the Summative ELPAC. In addition, any students’ initial ELAS statuses that have been corrected through one of the allowable correction processes specified in Title V Regulations, should be updated in CALPADS prior to summative testing.
Work with your LEA ELPAC Coordinator to remind sites/test examiners to update the LEA’s student information system (as directed) with a student’s English Language Acquisition Status and Date Testing Completed as determined by the Local Scoring Tool result.
Again, there are only three weeks left for Summative ELPAC testing (ending May 31). CALPADS must accurately reflect a student’s ELAS, or they won’t be tested, which may impact the LEA’s participation rate.
