General Description

The Low Performing Students Block Grant (LPSBG) allocated $300 million during the fiscal year 2018–19 for local educational agencies serving students identified as low-performing on state English language arts or mathematics assessments, who were not otherwise identified for supplemental grant funding under the Local Control Funding Formula, or were not eligible for special education services.

Time Period

  • 2018–19 to 2021–22

Legislative Authority

California Education Code (EC) Title 2, Division 3, Part 24, Chapter 3.2, Section 41570 External link opens in new window or tab., appropriated $300 million to establish the LPSBG.
