Dear Executive Directors of Preschool Programs:

Fiscal Year 2021–22 Family Fee Waiver Augmentations

From July 1, 2021, to June 30, 2022, family fees are waived for all families enrolled in the California State Preschool Program (CSPP). The 2021 Budget Act provided funding for this purpose to ensure contractors have sufficient funds to cover the cost of waived family fees.

The Child Development and Nutrition Fiscal Services (CDNFS) office will be conducting an analysis of family fees reported in the prior year for purposes of determining augmentations to FY 2021-22 CSPP contracts. Augmentation amounts will be based upon data submitted as of August 20, 2021 on the FY 2020-21 June Year-End reports.

It is imperative that all CSPP June reports are completed by the revision deadline to ensure accurate family fee waiver augmentation amounts are determined. If a FY 2020-21 June Year-end report is not received by August 20, 2021, the allocation will be based on the most recent report submitted by the contractor. Reporting is available through the Child Development Provider Accounting Reporting Information System (CPARIS) web application located at https://cparis.cde.ca.gov/cparis/.

As a reminder, the June Year-End reports for all CSPP contractors were due to CDNFS on July 20, 2021. The deadline for revised FY 2020-21 Year-End reports for non-LEAs is August 20, 2021, while the deadline for a Local Educational Agency is February 13, 2022, and the deadline for a Community College District is March 1, 2022.

If you have any questions regarding this subject, please contact your assigned Fiscal Apportionment Analyst at: https://www.cde.ca.gov/fg/aa/cd/faad.asp.
