Migrant Education Even Start (MEES) Program

Funding Description

The California MEES program is a statewide home-based and school-based family literacy education model. It assists migratory parents to increase literacy skills so that they can prepare their children, birth to seven years of age, to become successful learners. MEES helps migratory parents develop literacy, parenting and English-as-a-second-language skills. It also provides preschool services to their children. Families that participate in MEES must be classified as migratory under Migrant Education guidelines.

Eligible Applicants Local educational agencies
Required Eligibility Criteria Only established Regional Migrant Education offices funded through the California Department of Education are eligible to receive MEES funding. 2010-11 funds will go to the 22 Migrant Education Regional Offices.
