Local Assistance Entitlement funding is specifically allocated for special education and services to children with disabilities ages five through twenty-one.Eligibility

Required Eligibility Criteria | To receive funds, a local educational agency must submit a local plan (application) that contains assurances to the state education agency that is consistent with federal and state laws and regulations. |
Other Eligibility Considerations | Districts must account for these funds as expenditures for pupils with an individualized education plan (IEP) and for the provision of the special education and related services required by students with disabilities in order to benefit from a public education. |

Funding is based on a federal three-part formula: the 1999 special education enrollment population; 2009 K-12 enrollment (public and private); and 2009 K-12 poverty (Free and Reduced Meal Counts). |
