CMIG QRIS FY 2017-18 Block Grant

Funding Description

Quality Rating and Improvement System (QRIS) Block Grant funds of $800,000. The QRIS Block Grant will be allocated to local consortia for support of local early learning QRIS that increase the number of low-income children in high quality state preschool programs that prepare those children for success in school and life. The California State Superintendent of Public Instruction will base funding on the number of California Migrant Child Care and Development Program (CMIG) slots in the county or region.

Eligibility

Eligible Applicants Institutions of higher education, local educational agencies, nonprofit organizations, other organizations or agencies
Required Eligibility Criteria Applicants must be a part of a local QRIS consortium; Partnerships and Signatures of Consortium Participants are required; Consortia must implement a QRIS incorporating the Quality Continuum Framework; Consortia must use a shared Tiered Rating Matrix; Consortia must set targets to improve the quality of state preschool programs.
Other Eligibility Considerations $800,000 in funding will be allocated for the CMIG QRIS Block Grants in fiscal year 2017-18. Applicants awarded a QRIS Block Grant will receive funding subject to semi-annual fiscal reporting (California Education Code sections 8426 (a)(1) and 8203.1(g)). A letter of intent is due on December 1, 2017.
