Early Special Education Improvement Grant


Funding Description

The Early Special Education Improvement Grant funding will continue to provide support and services to children ages three, four, and five who were in the process of entering an educational setting. These supports and services include but are not limited to materials and supplies, certified and classified salaries, and operating costs to support remote service delivery and distance learning.

Eligible Applicants Local educational agencies
Required Eligibility Criteria California provides infant programs via Local Educational Agencies (LEAs) or Special Education Local Plan Areas (SELPAs) for infants identified as eligible and who are turning three. The Early Special Education Improvement Grant is for LEAs and SELPAs to continue to provide supports and services to children age three through five, who were in the process of entering an educational setting during COVID-19.
Other Eligibility Considerations The LEAs submitted an application with request for funds and justifications for how they would be spending the funds in their programs.
