Migrant Education Program: California Mini-Corps Program
NOTE: The application due date for this program has passed.
Funding Description
This grant supports a statewide supplemental instruction program for migrant students in kindergarten through twelfth grade by providing them tutoring by college student. Butte County Office of Education will establish a network of program sites across the state that collaborate with local MEP subgrantees to place college tutors in classrooms to support migratory students that are academically at-risk and demonstrate a priority for service. In addition, the qualified applicant will hire bilingual (Spanish) college students (preferably formerly migratory students) who are strongly interested in pursuing a teacher career and provide training and support to pursue a teaching career. The California Mini-Corps program mentors the college tutors to become future bilingual teachers, providing them with hands-on training and work experience for their future profession.Eligibility
