Specialized Secondary Program Demonstration

NOTE: The application due date for this program has passed.

Funding Description

This grant is intended to fund model Specialized Secondary Programs (SSP) at selected high schools. These SSPs have developed programs that offer challenging curriculum and innovative strategies or operating structures in the high school setting. The funding provides staff from the sites time to plan demonstration programs and host educators from other high schools interested in implementing similar programs/strategies. Visitors receive technical assistance via products, on-site visitations, and other resources.

Eligibility

Eligible Applicants Local educational agencies
Required Eligibility Criteria Previously funded SSP grantees between 1985 and 2006 that have completed their grant cycle or are in the final year of implementation and have met and exceeded the California Education Code Section 58800 requirement of developing both model curriculum and innovative strategies and operating structures in the high school setting.
Other Eligibility Considerations Participation in this grant opportunity is limited to high schools that used SSP funds to create a new advanced learning opportunity and a viable program based on that funding remains evident even if it has been years since SSP funding ended.
