Dear County and District Superintendents:
Classified School Employee Summer Assistance Program Local Educational Agency Reporting Requirements
The purpose of this letter is notify local educational agencies (LEAs) that elected to participate in the Classified School Employee Summer Assistance Program (CSESAP) of the reporting requirements for this program. For purposes of this program, a participating LEA may include a school district or county office of education.
Pursuant to Section 133 of Assembly Bill (AB) 1808 (Chapter 32, Statutes of 2018), as amended by Section 37 of AB 1840 (Chapter 426, Statutes of 2018), LEAs participating in the CSESAP were required to notify their classified school employees of the election by January 1, 2019. LEAs must also submit two reports to the California Department of Education (CDE):
- By April 1, 2019, a participating LEA must notify the CDE that it elected to participate in the program, specify the number of classified employees that have elected to participate, and estimate the total amount to be withheld from participating classified employee paychecks for the 2019–20 school year.
- By July 31, 2020, a participating LEA shall request payment from the CDE for the amount of classified employee pay withheld.
The web-based reporting application for the first reporting is now available on the CDE’s CSESAP web page at: https://www.cde.ca.gov/fg/aa/ca/csesap.asp. The second reporting application will be released approximately in June 2020.
