Dear Migrant Education Program Directors and Assistant Superintendents:
Migrant Education Program Grant Application FY 21–22
The California Department of Education (CDE) is pleased to announce the Migrant Education Program (MEP) Grant Application for fiscal year 2021–22. You can find information about the application on the CDE Migrant Program web page at https://www.cde.ca.gov/fg/fo/r28/migrant21rfa.asp.
The purpose of the application is to obtain a comprehensive description of proposed supplementary MEP services and programs to migratory children and families. Funds are determined using approved CDE funding factors.
The CDE is responsible for ensuring that MEP funds are awarded to local educational agencies (LEAs) and are used by LEAs in accordance with all applicable statutory requirements.
Due to extensive program revisions in the 2020–21 application cycle, caused by distance learning requirements from the COVID-19 pandemic, the CDE will extend the 2020–21 application to one additional year through 2021–22. This extension will apply to 14 subgrantees. Said subgrantees will not need to submit a new application for 2021–22. However, six subgrantees will need to apply due to needed revisions to meet program requirements. Information about the application, and due dates, can be found on the CDE MEP web page at http://www.cde.ca.gov/fg/fo/r28/migrant21rfa.asp.
Subgrantees receiving the extension will receive separate instructions for submission of some required documents.
If you have any questions regarding the MEP grant application, please contact Teresa Palomino, Education Programs Consultant, by phone at 916-319-0678 or by email at tpalomino@cde.ca.gov.
Sincerely,/s/
Celina Torres, Administrator
