  • Welcome and introductions
  • Minutes of previous meeting, March 15, 2012
  • Review the annual State SARB recommendations to the State Superintendent of Public Instruction (SSPI)
  • Specific recommendations to be discussed:
    • Joint letter with the Attorney General and joint forum on chronic absence to address:
      • Changes in compulsory education law
      • Excessive suspensions and expulsions
      • Human trafficking of children
      • Chronic health conditions affecting school attendance
      • Technical statute amendments
    • Chronic absence addition to model School Accountability Report Card
    • Chronic absence addition to criteria for California Distinguished Schools Award
    • Additional California Department of Education resources to support the Early Warning Intervention Network
    • Recognition of model SARBs at next annual conference of the California Association of Supervisors of Child Welfare and Attendance in Sacramento
    • Visitations to validate model SARB applications
    • Future collaboration with the Attorney General to recognize model SARBs
  • Presentation of Annual Recommendations to the SSPI
  • Comments by SSPI Tom Torlakson
  • Present certificates to evaluators of Model SARB applications and contributors to the revised SARB Handbook
  • Review the 2010–11 Model SARB Recognition Program application and recommend revisions for 2012–13
