The California Department of Education (CDE) Nutrition Services Division and the Fresno City College (FCC) California Professional Nutrition Education and Training (Cal-Pro-NET) Center are pleased to announce that the 2019–20 Menu Boot Camp for Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) Operators mandatory online training is now available. This training is for agencies that operate or sponsor child care centers, adult day care centers, emergency and homeless shelters, day care home sponsoring agencies, and at-risk afterschool agencies. The CACFP regulations require each agency participating in the CACFP to ensure that at least one person with administrative responsibilities for the CACFP complete this state agency-provided training.

Note: If individuals with administrative responsibilities from your agency attended and completed either the following workshop or preconference session in 2019, your agency has fulfilled the mandatory requirement for Program Year (PY) 2019–20:

  1. The CDE conducted workshops called the Menu Boot Camp for CACFP Operators at various California locations from August 18, 2019, through October 3, 2019. If someone at your agency with administrative responsibilities attended one of these workshops and received a certificate of completion (COC), your agency has met the mandatory requirement for PY 2019–20 and you are not required to take this online course.

  2. The CDE held a preconference session called the Menu Boot Camp for CACFP Operators at the 28th Annual CACFP Roundtable Annual Conference in Rancho Mirage on October 21, 2019. If someone at your agency with administrative responsibilities attended this session and received a COC from the FCC Cal-Pro-NET Center, your agency has satisfied the PY 2019–20 annual mandatory training requirement.

If your agency staff did not attend one of the trainings above, your agency’s authorized representative or designee must take the online Menu Boot Camp course.

The deadline for your agency to complete the mandatory training is May 18, 2020.

Please note that the FCC Cal-Pro-NET will be closing in June 2020. If your agency needs to complete the online Menu Boot Camp course, you must do so by the May 18, 2020, deadline.
