CACFP Ounce Equivalents for Grains Worksheet
On April 25, 2016, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) published the final rule, Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP): Meal Pattern Revisions Related to the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010, which specifies the use of ounce equivalents to determine the amount of creditable grain served to meet meal pattern requirements.
The implementation date for the ounce equivalents provision is October 1, 2021.
To help program operators transition to the use of ounce equivalents, the USDA Food and Nutrition Service (FNS) has released the Using Ounce Equivalents for Grains in the CACFP worksheet. The worksheet contains tools, such as: (1) a Grains Measuring Chart for each age group, (2) instructions on how to use the Grains Measuring Chart, (3) instructions on using a Nutrition Facts Label to determine how to credit grains, and (4) a Grains Measuring Tool.
To access the Using Ounce Equivalents for Grains in the CACFP worksheet in both English and Spanish, visit the USDA FNS CACFP Meal Pattern Training Worksheets web page .
