2020–21 CACFP Mandatory Training

The Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) federal regulations (Title 7,Code of Federal Regulations, Section 226.17[b][10]) require that all CACFP Operators, including child and adult care centers, at-risk afterschool care centers, emergency shelters, and day care home sponsors, ensure that at least one person with administrative responsibilities for the CACFP completes state agency-provided CACFP Mandatory Training annually.

New CACFP Operators who joined the CACFP in the current program year are not required to complete that current program year’s CACFP Mandatory Training. For example, CACFP Operators who joined the CACFP in the 2020–21 program year are not required to complete the 2020–21 CACFP Mandatory Training. However, returning CACFP operators are required to complete the 2021–22 Mandatory Training.

Day care home providers are never required to complete the state agency-provided CACFP Mandatory Training.

If you have already completed the 2020–21 CACFP Mandatory Training, please disregard this email, which was sent to all CACFP Operators.

The 2020–21 CACFP Mandatory Training, Tools to Assist with Meal Pattern Compliance, is not hosted this year on the Fresno City College California Professional Nutrition Education and Training (Cal-Pro-NET) Center web page for the first time in many years, as the Cal-Pro-NET Center was permanently closed on June 30, 2020. Instead, the California Department of Education (CDE) is providing the 2020–21 CACFP Mandatory Training, which is accessible in the Mandatory Training section of the Trainings tab on the CDE CACFP web page and in the link provided below.

The 2020–21 CACFP Mandatory Training includes the three online courses listed below. CACFP Operators are required to view each course, answer a series of assessment questions related to the content, and complete an evaluation of the training to obtain a certificate of completion. CACFP Operators must complete the 2020–21 CACFP Mandatory Training by Monday, March 15, 2021.

  1. CACFP Meal Pattern Compliance, Part One–Using the Crediting Handbook, course number 458
  2. CACFP Meal Pattern Compliance, Part Two–Using the Online U.S. Department of Agriculture Food Buying Guide, course number 459
  3. Civil Rights and Complaints in the Child Nutrition Programs, course number 410
