CNAC Member Recruitment 2021

The State Superintendent of Public Instruction (SSPI) Child Nutrition Advisory Council (CNAC) is currently recruiting for the following positions:

  • School Board Member
  • Curriculum Coordinator
  • Food Service Supervisor/Manager
  • Food Service Director
  • Nutrition Education Specialist
  • Parent–Teacher Association (PTA) or Organization (PTO) Representative
  • Lay Person

The CNAC is composed of 13 individuals representing different segments of the child nutrition community. The CNAC’s mission is to advise the SSPI in areas of health, wellness, and nutrition for all students in California’s pre-kindergarten through grade twelve public schools. With this in mind, it is critical to have all 13 members represented as they each bring their unique perspective to the CNAC.

The term of office depends on the current expiration dates. The three-year term for the School Board Member and Curriculum Coordinator began January 1, 2020 and ends December 31, 2022. The three-year term for the Food Service Supervisor/Manager, Food Service Director, Nutrition Education Specialist, PTA/PTO Representative, and Lay Person began January 1, 2021, and ends December 31, 2023. The CNAC convenes for one day, usually three to four times per year. Remote meetings for 2021 are tentatively scheduled for April, September, and November. Additional information about the CNAC, including the member application, is on the California Department of Education (CDE) CNAC web page.

Please distribute this information to anyone meeting the criteria for the vacant positions, especially those that participate on your wellness committee or other health-related groups in your district and school sites.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we can only accept completed applications by email. Applications must be received by 5 p.m., Friday, February 12, 2021. Applications dated or time-stamped on or before, but received after February 12, 2021, will not be accepted.
