Child Nutrition Response #97
On May 21, 2021, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) released COVID-19 Child Nutrition Response #97: Nationwide Waiver to Provide Flexibility for School Meal Programs Administrative Reviews of School Food Authorities Operating Only the Seamless Summer Option in School Year (SY) 2021–22. This Policy Memo waives certain School Nutrition Program (SNP) administrative review (AR) criteria in order to ensure that State agencies are able to conduct SNP ARs when school food authorities (SFAs) are only operating the National School Lunch Program (NSLP) Seamless Summer Option (SSO) in SY 2021–22. Specific changes to the SY 2021–22 SNP ARs are outlined in the policy memo which is available on the USDA Documents and Resources web page (PDF).
SFAs that operate only the SSO during SY 2021–22 and require an SNP AR will receive an abbreviated SNP AR based on the flexibilities outlined in COVID-19 Child Nutrition Response #97. SFAs that operate the NSLP for 10 or more days during SY 2021–22 and require an SNP AR will receive a full SNP AR based on the regulations outlined in Title 7, Code of Federal Regulations, Section 210.18.
