Flexibilities for Siskiyou County SFAs
The California Department of Education (CDE) Nutrition Services Division has received the authority from the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) to waive certain School Nutrition Programs (SNP) requirements for Siskiyou County school food authorities (SFA) in response to the Mill and Mountain fires.
Through December 31, 2022, the following SNP requirements are waived for Siskiyou County SFAs if needed:
- SNP meals must be served in a congregate setting and consumed by participants on site
- Meal time parameters for school lunch and breakfast
- Senior high schools must participate in Offer versus Serve
These flexibilities may be utilized without further approval from the CDE.
The CDE has provided technical assistance on meal pattern waiver needs to impacted SFAs through the Siskiyou County Office of Education and the county Office of Emergency Services. If an SFA requires additional meal pattern flexibilities beyond September 30, 2022, they may submit a meal pattern waiver request using the CDE NSD Meal Pattern Waiver Request Form web page.
