2022 Farm to Summer Celebration Week

Are you interested in getting to know your local farms better? If so, the California Department of Education (CDE) Nutrition Services Division (NSD) would like to encourage you to participate in California’s Farm to Summer (F2Summer) Celebration Week and connect with this year’s theme: Get to Know your Local Farm(s)!

F2Summer Celebration Week is a voluntary recognition program that the NSD implements in California to highlight program operators that bring local foods to schools. To be recognized, program operators complete a pre and post survey and implement the three elements of the celebration during the designed F2Summer Celebration Week. The three elements are:

  1. Taste: Offering snacks or meals that include local foods,

  2. Teach: Teaching agricultural-based nutrition lessons, and

  3. Share: Sharing your activities and meals on social media or with other operators.

Participating program operators can receive a One in a Melon Award Certificate and be recognized by the NSD!
