Food Safety in the CACFP Online Course


The California Department of Education (CDE) Nutrition Services Division (NSD) is pleased to announce a new online course, Food Safety for Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) Operators. This online course is a resource and training tool for child and adult day care center directors, teachers, and food service personnel, and family day care home providers. Participants will learn basic food safety principles, including steps for proper handwashing and cleaning, cooking foods to proper temperatures, how to prevent food contamination, and additional food safety considerations, such as serving food safely during field trips, power outages, and when pets are present. In addition, this online course includes a special section on food safety requirements and recommendations while serving meals during the Novel Coronavirus pandemic.

The Food Safety for CACFP Operators online course number is 452, and is available on the CDE Child Nutrition Programs Course Catalog web page.
