2022 KIT Deadline Reminder

The 2022 Kitchen Infrastructure and Training (KIT) Funds opt-in online registration deadline is December 9, 2022, at 5 p.m., which is just around the corner.

If you have already submitted an application, thank you and please disregard this email.

Mandatory Registration Form

The mandatory registration form is located on the Guidelines tab of the 2022 KIT Funds web page.

Deadline: December 9, 2022, at 5 p.m.
  • Late submissions will be allowed, but are not guaranteed funding

Reminders

  • School Food Authorities (SFA) new to meal service for School Year 2022–23 are eligible for the $100,000 base funding.
  • KIT 2022 provides eligible SFAs:
    • A base funding of $100,000
    • An additional funding amount based on meals claimed in October 2021
  • To receive the above funds, you agree only to build capacity for scratch cooking. You are not required to meet any quotas, percentages, or benchmarks.
    • For the third funding option only, you must attest that at least 40 percent of your total National School Lunch Program and School Breakfast Program meals served and prepared weekly beginning in the 2023–24 school year meet the definition of “freshly prepared onsite meals.” This set of funding is voluntary. You may receive the first two funding allotments without participating in this option.
  • KIT 2022 funds are a new allocation; you may receive both 2021 KIT and 2022 KIT funds. Receiving 2021 KIT funds does not make you ineligible for these funds. You must complete a timely registration to be awarded 2022 KIT funds.
  • Additional, clarifying guidance regarding the optional Freshly Prepared Onsite Meals was sent Friday, November 18, 2022, and is available on 2022 KIT Guidence and Deadline Extension web page. The KIT 2022 web pages are in the process of being updated to reflect these changes.
