Local Foods Fact Sheets–New Resources
The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Food and Nutrition Services has released five new Local Foods Fact Sheets for program operators and producers serving the Child nutrition programs (CNPs). These two-page fact sheets contain topics such as: how to get started, best practices, procurement guidance, tips from the field, where to find additional resources, and much more.
The California Department of Education (CDE) Nutrition Services Division encourages program operators to utilize these fact sheets to help incorporate more local and seasonal produce and foods into the meal programs.
If you are already incorporating seasonal foods into your meal programs we’d love to know more! Please send your stories and photos to Farm2School@cde.ca.gov.
