NCRA Recycling and Composting Webinar
Northern California Recycling Association’s Schools Committee is hosting a free webinar on February 11, 2021, for food service professionals to learn about state recycling and composting laws that affect schools.
Course Description
Assembly Bill 827 requires schools to have three, clearly labeled bins for recycling, compost, and trash. Senate Bill 1383 requires schools to properly sort food for compost collection; educate staff and school community; reduce and recover edible surplus food; and have a nonprofit food donation partner in place.
Speakers will include:

- Ahmad Sheikholeslami, Assistant Superintendent, Pleasanton Unified School District
- Devin Jackson, Science Teacher and Green Team Leader, Foothill Middle School, Walnut Creek
