Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E) and Southern California Edison (SCE) have announced that public safety power shutoffs are in progress due to extreme weather and fire danger.

PG&E has reported that the public safety power shutoff could affect the following 22 counties: Alpine, Amador, Butte, Calaveras, El Dorado, Humboldt, Lake, Lassen, Mariposa, Napa, Nevada, Placer, Plumas, Shasta, Sierra, Siskiyou, Sonoma, Tehama, Trinity, Tuolumne, and Yuba.

SCE is considering public safety power shutoff in the following six counties: Kern, Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, and Ventura,

All school food authorities are encouraged to review your emergency and food safety plans to ensure proper food safety measures are in place to help mitigate perishable food spoilage.

The Nutrition Services Division continues to work with the U.S. Department of Agriculture to secure waivers that provide flexibility for School Food Authorities during these unprecedented Public Safety Power Shutoff events. Additional communication will be released as these waivers are approved.
