School Food Best Practices Webinar and Web Page
This webpage announces the release of the School Food Best Practices (SFBP) web page and informational webinar on March 22, 2023, from 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m.
The SFBP web page and informational webinar provide background, guidance, definitions, and criteria for the SFBP Apportionment of $100 million authorized under Section 133 of Assembly Bill (AB) 181. This funding is available to School Nutrition Program (SNP) Operators that are school districts, county offices of education, or charter schools participating in the National School Lunch Program (NSLP) or School Breakfast Program (SBP); timely registration is required. Online opt-in information will be announced when available.
SFBP Funding Web Page
As directed by AB 181, the CDE and the California Department of Food and Agriculture have developed definitions and expenditure criteria for California-grown, whole or minimally processed, sustainably grown food, and plant-based or restricted diet food options. These can be found on the SFBP Funding web page.
Prior to finalizing these definitions and criteria, the CDE is accepting questions and feedback addressed to SFBP@cde.ca.gov through March 30, 2023.
SFBP Informational Webinar
Participation in this webinar is not required in order to receive funds. The webinar will not be recorded; however, presentation slides will be posted on the CDE SFBP Funding web page.

After registering, you will see a screen that says Webinar Registration Approved with a link to the webinar. You will also receive several emails with the information about joining the webinar. First, you will receive confirmation the day you register and then you will receive two reminder emails: one day and one hour prior to the webinar.
