Summer Food Service Application Deadline Extended
The California Department of Education (CDE) Nutrition Services Division (NSD) has extended the Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) Application deadline to June 1, 2022. After this deadline, the NSD may deny program sponsorship due to incomplete application status.
Please submit your applications prior to this date to ensure that the CDE can review, provide technical assistance, and approve your applications prior to your service start date.
This timely submission will also ensure your site information is available on the CDE 2022 Summer Meal Sites finder web page and the CDE California Meals for Kids Application for families to identify your summer meal sites before school closes!
To update your application, please visit the Child Nutrition Information and Payment System (CNIPS) website and have your user ID and password ready. If your password has expired, you can call our CNIPS Helpdesk at 800-952-5609, option 6, to have it reset.

Sponsors should note, that application packet components auto populate certain information that is entered in other application sections. Therefore, the NSD recommends that sponsors complete sections and steps in full in the following order:
- Complete the Sponsor Application
- Complete the Management Plan
- Complete the Food Production Facility
- Complete ALL of the site applications in full
- Complete the Budget Details
- Complete the Checklist Summary
- Submit the Application Packet by selecting the Red Submit for Approval button on the sponsor application main screen
