The California Department of Education's (CDE) Nutrition Services Division will convene a 2022 Kitchen Infrastructure and Training (KIT) Funds Office Hours webinar on December 8, 2022, at 1 p.m.
Description
We will provide an overview of the available 2022 KIT funding options, including the additional voluntary funding for agencies who can attest that 40 percent of their meals beginning next year will meet the freshly prepared onsite meal definition. We will leave ample time for participants to ask questions.

After registering, you will see a screen that says Webinar Registration Approved with a link to the webinar. You will also receive several emails with the information about joining the webinar. First, you will receive confirmation the day you register and then you will receive two reminder emails: one day and one hour prior to the webinar. Reminders
- December 9, 2022, by 5 p.m.: Deadline to submit an online registration form. A link to the form can be found on the Guidelines tab of the CDE 2022 KIT Funds web page.
- 2022 KIT Funds provides eligible school food authorities:
- A base funding of $100,000
- An additional funding amount based on meals claimed in October of 2021
To receive the above funds, you agree only to build capacity for scratch cooking. You are not required to meet any quotas, percentages, or benchmarks.
- For the third funding option only, you must attest that at least 40 percent of your total National School Lunch Program (NSLP) and School Breakfast Program (SBP) meals served and prepared weekly beginning in the 2023–24 school year meet the definition of “freshly prepared onsite meals.” This set of funding is voluntary. You may receive the first two funding allotments without participating in this option.
- A base funding of $100,000
- If you received 2021 KIT Funds, you are also eligible to receive 2022 KIT Funds. You must complete a timely registration to be awarded 2022 KIT funds.
