The California Department of Education (CDE) Nutrition Services Division (NSD) in partnership with the Governor’s Office hosted Thought Partners: Transitioning Back to School and Moving Forward in Meal Service webinar on May 19, 2020, for School Nutrition Program food and nutrition directors, chief business officials, and community partners to listen to a discussion on transitioning back to school and moving forward in meal service amidst Coronavirus (COVID-19).

Panelists included speakers from Oakland Unified School District (USD), San Diego USD, Marysville Joint USD, Clovis USD, No Kid Hungry CA, World Central Kitchen, City of San Jose, and Revolution Foods. The panelists discussed plans for food service operations and considerations for transitioning from unanticipated school closures to a modified meal service model as schools reopen for the new school year. Speakers also shared resources and strategies for providing quality meals, addressing meal equity, and building partnerships with the community.
