CACFP Training Worksheets and Crediting Handbook


The California Department of Education (CDE) Nutrition Services Division (NSD) is pleased to announce that U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Team Nutrition (TN) has released several new Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) resources, including interactive worksheets (in both English and Spanish) and the new Crediting Handbook for the CACFP.

All of the following resources will provide information helpful for implementing the updated CACFP meal patterns requirements that went into effect October 1, 2017.

The Crediting Handbook for the CACFP

Program operators can use the new Crediting Handbook for the CACFP as a guide to accurately crediting foods in the CACFP.

TN Worksheets

Program operators can use the new TN worksheets to learn how to implement different aspects of the CACFP meal pattern. The worksheets include colorful infographics and guided activities.

The titles of the new worksheets are:

  • Using the Nutrition Facts Label in the CACFP
  • Serving Vegetables in the CACFP
  • Serving Snacks in the CACFP
  • How to Spot Whole Grain-rich Foods for the CACFP
  • Using the Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) Food Lists to Identify Grains for the CACFP
  • Is My Recipe Whole Grain-rich in the CACFP?
