USDA Local School Wellness Policy Webinar

On Wednesday, August 17, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Team Nutrition (TN) initiative will present a Meal Talk Webinar on Local School Wellness Policies (LSWP). TN staff and guest speakers from South Carolina’s Local Wellness Policy State Technical Assistance Team and Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education will share how to energize, strengthen, and assess LSWPs. Attendees will leave with new ideas for increasing engagement and excitement about school wellness in their communities, including amongst administrators, teachers, parents, students, and more.

Learning Objectives

  • List three actions School Food Authorities (SFAs) can take to renew their LSWPs for School Year 2022–23.

  • Identify three strategies to engage school administration, staff, and families in LSWPs.

  • Name two ways to strengthen LSWPs based on triennial assessment findings.

Professional Standards & Continuing Professional Education Units

Certificates of participation will be provided for those who attend the entire webinar. This webinar may count toward USDA Professional Standards for School Nutrition Programs, Key Area 4000: Communications, and Marketing and Key Topics 4100: Communications and Marketing. The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and the Commission on Dietetic Registration has also approved this webinar for 1.0 hours of Continuing Professional Education Units (CPEUs).
