County and District Superintendents, Charter School Administrators, and Principals:

Sign Up for 50/50 Day on April 26 to Join a Global
Conversation Around Gender Equity

What would the world be like if it were more gender-balanced? How would it change our schools, homes, our communities, and even our planet? The California Department of Education (CDE) and I would like to participate in a free global initiative called 50/50 Day, on April 26, 2018, that will cover these important questions. 50/50 Day is committed to helping students and everyday people become champions and active participants in the changes our world desperately needs.

Over 20,000 groups around the globe are already signed up for the 2nd annual 50/50 Day. Thousands of schools, companies, museums, libraries, and homes will be hosting free film screenings and tapping into a global online discussion about how we are going to get to a more gender balanced world that is better for everyone. All participating groups will:

  1. Screen the acclaimed 20 minute film 50/50 (see below for link) or watch the new two
minute film “What if” (which will be premiering on 50/50 Day).
  2. Tap into a live online Q&A that unifies all the film screenings and features prominent
leaders from diverse perspectives discussing how to reach a more gender-balanced
world in all sectors of society: business, politics, culture, society, and home.
  3. Download printed discussion materials to dive deeper into the conversation.

The 50/50 Day team will be releasing pledges for individuals, companies, and schools so everyone can start taking action to #Gettingto5050. To sign up for 50/50 day, go to https://form.jotform.us/72616779984174.

Once you have registered, the 50/50 Day hosts will be in touch via email to help you organize your events. Please help spread the word about this global initiative to your community by using this hash tag on social media: #Gettingto5050.
