County and District Superintendents, Charter School Administrators and School Principals:

Educational Art Contest

On behalf of the California Department of Education and the Consulate General of Mexico in Sacramento, we are pleased to announce the 2018 Children´s Drawing Contest, “Éste es mi México,” with the topic: “History, Traditions, Gastronomy, Beaches, Music.” The contest is open to children of all nationalities between the ages of six and fourteen.

The contest motivates children to draw and learn about Mexico, its history, traditions, food, beaches, and music.

We encourage principals, counselors, school districts, and school boards to coordinate and promote children’s participation in this unique contest that promotes multiculturalism.

Participating children must draw their art based on research gathered from friends, classmates, and family members. A jury in Mexico will select 12 winners who will receive a package of Mexican literature, a diploma, and a surprise gift.

The main guidelines are as follows:

  • Draw on a square paper or cardboard (12 by 12 inches).
  • Paste the registration form on the back of the drawing. The form can be downloaded on the contest instruction web page at http://www.ime.gob.mx/documentos/convocatoria_eemm_2018_eng.pdf [Note: The preceeding web page is no longer available].
  • Drawing about the history, traditions, gastronomy, beaches, and music of Mexico is mandatory; otherwise, art pieces will be disqualified.
  • Drawings must be mailed or hand-delivered to a Mexican Consulate near you by May 31, 2018:
