The 2014 ELA/ELD Framework supports as well as incorporates the California Common Core State Standards for English Language Arts and Literacy in History/Social Studies, Science, and Technical Subjects (CA Standards for ELA/Literacy) and the California English Language Development (CA ELD) Standards. It integrates five key themes across grade levels to accomplish these ground-breaking endeavors: (a) meaning making, (b) language development, (c) effective expression, (d) content knowledge, and (e) foundational skills.
