Early Learning and Care Division Resources

• Beginning Together
  Ensures that children with special needs are incorporated, and appropriate inclusive practices are promoted.
• California Collaborative for the Social-Emotional Foundations of Early Learning (CSEFEL)
  Creates a cohesive and effective approach to addressing needs of very young children with challenging behaviors and special needs that aligns with California's social-emotional learning foundations.
• California Early Childhood Mentor Program
  Promotes a state-wide effort to improve the quality of child care. It provides training and support for early childhood professionals so that they, in turn, will be able to continue providing high-quality services.
• California Early Childhood Online (CECO)
  To support early childhood teachers, the California Early Learning and Development System provides an integrated set of resources based on state-of-the-art information for early learning and development and best practices in early education. The courses provided on the CECO Web site enable teachers to increase content knowledge and ability to provide developmentally appropriate experiences for children in their care. CECO provides access to comprehensive resources and courses in one centralized location to meet the ever-changing needs of the early childhood field.
  
• California Inclusion & Behavior Consultation (CIBC) Network
  Utilizes a community-based, statewide network of experienced consultants to respond to Early Care and Education provider requests for technical assistance and consultation to promote inclusion of those children with disabilities and other special needs, including challenging behaviors.
  
• California Making Access Possible (MAP) to Inclusion & Belonging
  The MAP Project supports the inclusion of children with disabilities and other special needs ages birth to 21 in child care, after school and community settings.
• California Preschool Instructional Networks (CPIN)
  Provides, facilitates, and/or coordinates professional development opportunities for early childhood/school readiness staff. The CPIN supports existing regional communication and collaboration among various early childhood/school readiness providers.
• Child Care Initiative Project (CCIP)
  Offers support to potential and newly licensed family child care providers to help them establish quality family child care homes.
• Desired Results Field Training
  Provides training to program staff of agencies that are scheduled for a California Department of Education compliance review the following year.
• Dual Language Learners Professional Development (DLL-PD)
  A professional development resource offering DLL-specific training activities with five professional development providers.
• Early Childhood Educator Competencies Self-Assessment Toolkit (ECE CompSAT) [Link no longer available]
  A professional development resource for the early childhood education field to use for self-reflection about their knowledge, skills, and dispositions and to assist with the development of professional growth plans by identifying the competencies needed for effective, high-quality early education practice.
• ELCD-Approved Training Opportunities
  The ELCD offers a wide range of training programs for child care providers.
• Program for Infant/Toddler Care (PITC)
  Holds institutes that cover the topics of social-emotional development, quality group care, cognitive and language development, and cultural and family issues. The PITC Partners for Quality Program provides subsidized on site training, mentoring and coaching to eligible child care programs in California.
• Training for School-Age Program Professionals
  Focuses on school-age program professionals, supports the retention of trainers for the state-funded Kid's Time training of trainer’s institutes, and provides community-based training to staff working in before-and after-school programs.
