Survey for Number of Variable Schedule Families

Email guidance announcing a survey to collect data on the number of variable schedule families.

The California Department of Education (CDE) is requesting information from all California Work Opportunity and Responsibility to Kids (CalWORKs) Stage 2 (C2AP), CalWORKs Stage 3 (C3AP), California Alternative Payment Program (CAPP), and California Migrant Alternative Payment Program (CMAP) contractors. This survey is being administered by the Child Development and Nutrition Fiscal Services Unit and the data collected will inform the state’s understanding of variable schedule enrollments.

This survey contains two program questions:

  1. How much of the allocation your agency received for the purpose of paying providers at the maximum certified hours of care is projected to be spent by June 30, 2021?
  2. What percentage of children receiving a voucher from your agency are enrolled with a variable schedule, based on the most recent data you have available?

Each contractor should submit only one response. Contractors operating in multiple counties should only submit one survey response that includes all counties where children are provided care. Only agencies directly contracting with CDE should submit a response; providers should not submit a response.

To complete the survey, please answer all applicable questions based on the contract types that you hold. The link to the survey can be found at the Impacts of Coronavirus (COVID-19) Survey web page.

Questions regarding this survey should be directed to your fiscal analyst. The fiscal analyst directory can be found on the Fiscal Apportionment Analyst Directory web page.

Please provide responses by Friday, April 16, 2021.
