Assessment Results Communications Toolkit
Informational materials and resources that help explain the statewide assessment results.Overview
The California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP) and English Language Proficiency Assessments for California (ELPAC) are computer-based tests that measure what students know and can do based on the California academic content standards and English language development standards. The CAASPP and ELPAC are taken on a yearly basis and produce scores that can be aggregated and disaggregated for the purpose of informing parents/guardians, local educational agencies (LEAs), and the public. The CAASPP and ELPAC assessments:
- Provide individual results to students, parents/guardians, and educators
- Produce school-, LEA-, county-, and state-level results that allow for the monitoring of progress
- Produce results to meet the requirements of the Every Student Succeeds Act, enacted on December 10, 2015, which reauthorized the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965
The CAASPP summary reports include results for the following assessments:
- Smarter Balanced English language arts/literacy (ELA) and mathematics summative assessments
- California Alternate Assessments (CAAs) for ELA and mathematics
- California Science Test
- CAA for Science
- California Spanish Assessment
The ELPAC summary reports include results for the following assessments:
- Initial ELPAC
- Summative ELPAC
- Initial Alternate ELPAC
- Summative Alternate ELPAC
