Dear County and District Superintendents and Charter School Administrators:
Access to Assessment Results Available for Local Use
Student scores for the Smarter Balanced Summative Assessments for English language arts/literacy (ELA) and mathematics for the California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP) are currently available in the Online Reporting System (ORS). The ORS is secure and accessible to approved administrators who are trained in protecting student privacy.
The early results will give local educational agencies timely information about student learning to support planning around the improvement of teaching and learning. Student achievement results may also inform the development of Local Control Accountability Plans and educational programs. Assessment results from ORS are not embargoed. Districts are encouraged to use their results for local planning, including public meetings with your local governing board.
This preliminary data will not include information for the California Alternate Assessments (CAA) for ELA and Mathematics, the CAA for Science, the California Science Test, or the Standards-based Tests in Spanish for Reading/Language Arts.
Final data for the Smarter Balanced Summative Assessments will be released publicly by the California Department of Education (CDE) in the fall and will be available on the CDE public reporting site. If you have any questions regarding the release schedule, please contact the CAASPP Office by phone at 916-445-8765 or by email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
We thank you for your continued support of the CAASPP System.
Keric Ashley, Deputy Superintendent
Performance, Planning, and Technology Branch
