Growth Model Public Release
This week, the CDE released California’s student growth data based on the 2016–17, 2017–18, and 2018–19 Smarter Balanced Summative Assessment results for English language arts/literacy and mathematics. The data files contain growth scores for grades four through eight at the LEA, school, and student group levels. The data is intended for informational use only.
Also available is the Student Growth Toolkit, which is provided to support LEAs and the general public in understanding growth scores and their appropriate uses as well as communicating about the scores with colleagues.
You can find both the toolkit and the data on the CDE Growth Model web page.
New Alternate ELPAC Resource
The CDE is pleased to announce that the resource English Language Development Connectors for the Alternate ELPAC is available on the CDE Alternate ELPAC web page, under “Technical Documents.” This document describes the relationship between the 2012 California English Language Development Standards and the English Language Development Connectors, which are reduced in breadth, depth, and complexity for students with the most significant cognitive disabilities.
Educators Needed for Alternate ELPAC Standard Setting
The CDE and the ELPAC project team are urgently seeking California educators who teach English learner students with the most significant cognitive disabilities to participate in the Alternate ELPAC Standard Setting Workshop. The workshop will take place remotely.
Standard setting is an exciting and collaborative process that will culminate in your team recommending threshold scores to the CDE for review. These threshold scores will delineate between the various performance levels that will be reported. The CDE anticipates bringing the proposed threshold scores to the State Board of Education for approval in May 2022.
