Gearing Up for the New School Year: Key Features of the Interim Assessment Reporting System

As the 2018–19 school year begins, we remind local educational agencies (LEAs) of the key features of the Interim Assessment Reporting System that are in place to support teaching and learning:

  • For educators
  • Interim assessment items displayed with student responses
  • Test item-level details such as content standard alignment and answer key
  • Writing trait scores for English-language arts/literacy Interim Comprehensive Assessments (ICAs)
  • Results for individual and groups of students
  • Ability to create customized groups of students from existing lists of assigned students
  • For administrators
  • District-level export of test results
  • Custom aggregate reports for ICAs
  • Integration with the LEA’s student information system (SIS) to create and manage student groups
  • Ability to create and manage links to local instructional resources for IABs (Educators can access these and other resources using the Instructional Resources button in the reporting system.)

For additional information on using the Interim Assessment Reporting System, see the Smarter Balanced Reporting System User Guide External link opens in new window or tab..

Accessibility

Updated accessibility resources for the 2018–19 CAASPP administration are now available. The revised Matrix One displays the embedded and non-embedded universal tools, designated supports, and accommodations that are allowed as a part of the CAASPP System for 2018–19. Other changes include the following:

  • Streamline accommodation is now a designated support.
  • Medical device as a designated support has been added.
  • Abacus includes expanded recommendations for use.
  • Scratch paper includes the use of non-embedded digital graph paper.

Also updated is the CDE Student Accessibility Resources web page, which has been condensed for ease of navigation. View these updated resources for the latest on assessment accessibility!

ELPAC Training This Fall

The 2018–19 Summative ELPAC Administration and Scoring Training (AST), sponsored by the CDE, will be presented throughout the state in October and November. There will be 24 sessions in order to provide a selection of dates and locations from which to choose.

All LEAs are required to send designated staff to an ELPAC AST or regional training or enter into a Memorandum of Understanding with a neighboring LEA that has agreed to administer the ELPAC for the LEA.

Registration for the 2018–19 Summative ELPAC ASTs opens on Wednesday, August 15. Watch for notification and a link to registration.

Start the New School Year with New ELPAC Resources
