Earlier today, an e-mail providing details on accessing the CAASPP Preview Web page was sent to all local educational agency (LEA) CAASPP coordinators, county and school district superintendents, and charter school administrators. Register Now for North-South Meeting!
Registration has opened for the 2016 North-South Assessment and Accountability Information Meeting, as follows:
- Now through August 28, registration is available exclusively to LEA assessment coordinators and LEA accountability coordinators.
- Registration will open up to additional LEA staff on August 29.
We ask that only three attendees per LEA register to ensure that all LEAs will have the opportunity to send a representative.
The North Meeting will take place on September 27 in Sacramento, and the South Meeting will take place on October 4 in Ontario. To register, visit the 2016 North-South Information Meeting Web page.
Countdown to Downtime
Downtime for several CAASPP online systems begins Friday of next week, August 26, at 5 p.m. Systems affected will be the Test Operations Management System (TOMS) and Online Reporting System (August 26–September 6) and the Test Delivery System, Test Administrator Interface, Appeals and Roster Management System, Interim Assessment Viewing System, and Interim Assessment Hand Scoring System (August 26–September 11).
Please see CAASPP Update, Issue 166 for details and steps you can take to prepare your LEA. Questions should be directed to the California Technical Assistance Center by phone at 800-955-2954 or by e-mail at email@example.com.
Designate by September 6!
Only the newly designated LEA CAASPP coordinators will have access to the online systems when TOMS comes back online September 6. The LEA superintendent must designate the LEA CAASPP coordinator for the 2016–17 school year, and this is done using the online 2016–17 designation form.
Coordinators also need to complete the 2016–17 CAASPP Test Security Agreement for LEA CAASPP Coordinators and CAASPP Test Site Coordinators in order to gain access to TOMS. See CAASPP Update, Issue 166 for more information.
Meet an SNE Member!
August’s featured State Network of Educators (SNE) member is Jaime Bonato, a California educator for more than 15 years and one of the newest members of the SNE. Jaime is a high school mathematics teacher in the San Juan Unified School District. She joined the SNE because she believes she experiences her best growth when learning from her colleagues. She enjoys relating to teachers of grade levels or subject areas other than her own and adapting their strategies to her classroom instruction.
In addition to contributing several resources to the Digital Library, Jaime appears with her students in “Graphing Relationships Between Two Quantities,” which is part of the California Department of Education (CDE) Formative Assessment in Action video series. In this video, Jaime demonstrates the formative assessment process as her students work in collaborative groups and discuss the relationship between the rate at which water fills a container and its corresponding graph. This 11-minute video, along with the other videos in the Formative Assessment in Action series, is available on the CDE Formative Assessment in Action web page.
To learn more about Jaime and other members of the Digital Library State Network of Educators, please visit the CDE Meet an SNE Member web page!
