Be Prepared—Update Your CALPADS Data Now!
In preparing for the 2016–17 CAASPP administration, be sure to update your California Longitudinal Pupil Achievement Data System (CALPADS) student demographic data. Please note that CALPADS data are uploaded to the Test Operations Management System (TOMS) on a nightly basis, so be sure to allow 24–48 hours for changes to appear in TOMS. In addition, after any scheduled system downtimes, student demographic data changes from CALPADS may take up to three days to update across all systems (e.g., Test Administrator Interface and Online Reporting System).
If you have questions about student demographic data changes and the 2016–17 CAASPP administration, please contact the California Technical Assistance Center by phone at 800-955-2954 or by email at email@example.com.
September’s Featured Digital Library Resource: Understanding Lexiles
Featured this month is Understanding Lexiles (Digital Library account required), a professional learning resource from MetaMetrics that contains a collection of materials focused on helping educators understand what Lexile measures are, how to use them in the classroom, and how to use associated data. This valuable information is presented in a variety of ways, including a recorded webinar, policy briefs, published articles, and videos to demonstrate how Lexile measures can be used to help students achieve college and career readiness. This resource can be used by educators of all content areas and grades to monitor student progress in reading over time and empower students to gauge where they are in relationship to their grade-level reading achievement and match themselves to appropriate texts.
Reminder: After using this or any other resource from the Smarter Balanced Digital Library (Digital Library account required), you have an opportunity to benefit your fellow educators by writing a review of that resource in the Digital Library.
Please share this email with any educators in your local educational agency who would be interested in or benefit from this information.
