Meet an SNE Member!
Elin Van Vleet has been an educator for more than 20 years and a member of the State Network of Educators (SNE) since 2014. She is currently a research associate at the Activities Integrating Math and Science (AIMS) Center at Fresno Pacific University. Elin joined the SNE to learn more about the Smarter Balanced assessment system and the Digital Library. She says that being a member of the SNE is a great way to learn how teachers across the state are effectively implementing the Common Core State Standards and formative assessment strategies.
A Digital Library formative assessment resource Elin developed is titled "How Many Dots?" (Digital Library account required). Intended for use with kindergarten students, it includes an activity that engages students in counting dots, sharing with classmates the number of dots they have counted, and explaining how they arrived at that number.
