CAASPP Update, Issue 219California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP) e-mail update, August 16, 2017.
Focusing on the CAASPP System, including the Smarter Balanced assessments—a major component of CAASPP—and the California Alternate Assessments and science assessments.
Roll Call: Assigning User Roles as CAASPP System Downtime Approaches
The end of August marks the system downtime for the transition to the 2017–18 CAASPP assessments. The downtime will include the removal of all user roles in both the Test Operations Management System (TOMS) and the Administration and Registration and Tools (ART) interface. User roles will be removed from ART beginning on August 22, 2017; removal of user roles in TOMS will begin on August 30, 2017. The downtimes for both ART and TOMS will extend through Monday, September 4, 2017.
On September 5, the 2017–18 Smarter Balanced Interim Assessments and new Interim Assessment Reporting System will be available. Later in September, local educational agency (LEA) CAASPP coordinators will receive information specifying the process for provisioning staff from their LEAs to the new Interim Assessment Reporting System. Please note, designated LEA CAASPP coordinators must return the security agreement in order to be provided access to both TOMS and ART. Detailed steps to follow prior to, during, and immediately following the downtime are available in the August 16 e-mail to LEA CAASPP coordinators (PDF).
Please note that access to the California Spanish Assessment also will be available on September 5 for the LEAs administering the test.
Coming Soon: 2017 CAASPP Summary Results
The public release of the CAASPP results is scheduled for Tuesday, August 29, 2017. Access to the 2016–17 CAASPP summary reports will be available on the CDE CAASPP Reporting website. The website will display the state-, county-, district-, and school-level CAASPP reports for the spring 2017 administrations.
The summary reports will include Smarter Balanced English language arts/literacy (ELA) and mathematics summative assessments scored and posted in the Online Reporting System by June 18, 2017. For LEAs with open testing windows as of June 18, student demographic data reflects the demographic data in TOMS on June 18.
