Spotlight on Accessibility
With speech-to-text, which is a non-embedded accommodation, students use voice recognition to use their voices as input devices to the computer, to dictate responses, or to give commands. In order to use speech-to-text software, the software must be loaded on the student’s testing computer, and the permissive mode must be selected in the student test settings in the Test Operations Management System. Note that the permissive mode will not allow any cloud-based applications to interact with the test delivery system. Students will need to have familiarity with the software and many opportunities to use it prior to testing.

Notice of CAASPP Administration: Translated Parent Letters Now Available
Translations of the parent letters for the 2017–18 administrations of the summative assessments and CAST field test have been completed! Find them on the California Department of Education (CDE) 2017–18 Notice of CAASPP Administration Web page.
The 1 Percent Justification Survey
The 1 Percent Justification survey results are now posted for the 2016–17 year and can be found on the CDE CAASPP Results Web site. The results list the LEAs self-reporting that they may exceed the 1 percent threshold before administering the alternate assessments. The results can be sorted alphabetically or by county/district/school code for the reporting district. Caution should be used when interpreting these self-reported results, as the LEAs reported on the site may not have exceeded the 1 percent threshold after the administration was completed.Please share this e-mail with any educators in your local educational agency who would be interested in or benefit from this information.
