LGBTQ+ Statewide Advisory Task Force

Purpose, background, and resources for the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Questioning, Plus (LGBTQ+) Statewide Advisory Task Force (LGBTQ+SAT).

The LGBTQ+SAT, established pursuant to California Education Code (EC) Section 219, is created to identify the needs of LGBTQ+ students and to make recommendations to assist in implementing supportive policies and initiatives to address LGBTQ+ student education and well-being.

The LGBTQ+SAT will hold at least six meetings between July 2024 and January 2026, and shall submit a report to the Legislature, the Governor, and the State Superintendent of Public Instruction that includes its findings and recommendations to ensure full implementation of EC Section 219. The LGBTQ+ Statewide Advisory Task Force shall remain in effect only until January 1, 2026.
