Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate Test Fee Reimbursement

Funding Description

The Advanced Placement (AP) and International Baccalaureate (IB) Test Fee Reimbursement Program removes the financial barriers that prevent many low-income students in high schools from taking the AP and IB course tests. Funding supports the payment of AP and IB test fees for income-eligible students.

Eligibility

Eligible Applicants Local educational agencies
Required Eligibility Criteria Low-income students who are enrolled in AP class and plan to take the end-of-course AP exam are eligible to participate in the program. Upon teacher recommendation, a low-income student who has previously taken an AP/IB class but not the exam may also be eligible to participate.
Other Eligibility Considerations Local educational agencies (LEA) must document the income eligibility of students participating in the program maintain documentation of need at the school or LEA site for five years.

Allocation Formula LEAs will be reimbursed up to $38 dollars for each AP exam and $98 for each IB exam, for each student whose family income does not exceed 185 percent of the federal poverty level.

Other The Grant for Fiscal Year (FY) 2016-17 will be used to reimburse LEAs for the May 2016 exam cycle. Please note that there will be two payment schedules for the May 2016 testing cycle. Please check both schedules for LEA reimbursement information.
